Our story

From roadside tables to the red truck

Restaurant Two started as a Sri Lankan food truck, dishing out simple, fiery local food and dishes from overseas to diners eating at roadside tables.

Then and now

Still cooking from the truck

The truck is still here. Look for the red DAF cab and the black-and-red container dining car on Race Course Road, with its red steps and its name in big letters down the side. Next to it is a covered dining hall with long tables, lanterns and patio heaters for cool Nuwara Eliya nights.

What hasn't changed is the cooking: kottu chopped on the hot plate, rice and noodles through the wok, and rice and curry the way the hill country eats it. We open at 6am and close at 11pm, every day.

Groups have become a big part of who we are. School trips, official tours and family parties stop with us, and one reviewer noted we can easily serve more than 100 people at lunch.

What we believe

How we cook

  • Local & fresh

We believe a healthy environment is essential to healthy living, and that starts with cooking fresh food for the people around us.

  • Trained in-house

Our kitchen team is trained in-house to high standards, so every plate meets the same standard, morning or night.

  • A varied menu with an Asian twist

Sri Lankan classics alongside Chinese-style wok dishes, pasta and grills. Platters let a table try a little of everything.

  • Food as a surprise

We like to plate food with care and to surprise our guests with new ideas, from carved fruit to a full buffet spread.
